Hi all,
I am raising funds to try & prevent our centre from closing due to the prolonged lock-in.
I am doing similar to Captain Tom, in my case I am walking a mile each day using my walker.
If any of your group would like tp donate it would be much appreciated.
To donate go to
Just Giving. Site
Search for Richard Leigh
This will take you to my funding page.
Kind regards
Richard.

SATURDAY 9th JULY CLIFF LANE SCOUT HUT
The scout hut has been booked for an evening of fun with our friends, and an opportunity to go home with a cash prize from the Bingo or a raffle prize.
The event will start early evening and full details, cost etc. will be announced soon.
allowing for Gift Aid still to be collected, the total for the two events combined reached just over £1150.
We have been advised that we are to receive a fantastic £917
Thank you to all the staff and customers at John Lewis
Sarah has been selling sweet cones at her husbands work, and has raised over £50 already. She is hoping to regularly bring in funds this way.
We also hope to confirm a date for AWARENESS AND FUNRAISING at the Halifax Building Society in the very near future. Sweet cones are likely to feature there as well!
We are now on the starting blocks with these collections, with the volunteers for the day being listed so that we can plan for the days.
We will be getting new collection boxes, and ID lanyards for the days. The minimum order numbers should ensure that we have enough, and of course these will be available for future collections as well, such as the ITFC collection we hope to do again in the new season.
THESE COLLECTIONS ARE FOR FUNDS FOR SHIMS
Although this is at an early stage of planning, it will go ahead later in the year. The SPLAT PACK, the team involved in the Tandem Parachute jump are hoping to raise money towards the purchase of a Standing Frame at the Hospital.
This is a very exciting plan as the Standing Frame will benefit people with Neurological Conditions within the area, not just those with MS
FUNDS RAISED IN THIS EVENT ARE SOLELY FOR THIS PURCHASE AND NOT FOR SHIMS FUNDS
The total amount raised online for the Going Topless event through BTMydonte is just over £190. The gift aid funds are returned to us a little while after the actual donations.
It is fair to say that this is a success, and will undoubtedly help with the next big project, JUMPING FOR JOY.
As we reach the conclusion of the collections, the current total including Gift Aid (still to be recovered), is in excess of £1100
(01/04/2016)
We have reached a total for the GOING TOPLESS and EASTER TEA PARTY EVENTS, which needs to be published.
The current total, which far exceeds anything we could have imagined is OVER £1000.
GOING TOPLESS - CURRENT TOTAL £390
EASTER TEA PARTY - CURRENT TOTAL £580
Further donations to both are still anticipated,
so a final total will be announced at the end of the month.
Photographs available on SHIMS FACEBOOK PAGE.
BTMydonate is up and running with a £50 donation already made online. With the Gift Aid, this donation equates to £62.50.
This donation was specifically for the GOING TOPLESS event on 09/03/16, when ANDY BLACKER is having his head and beard shaved, and will become KOJAK.
Other donations can also be made through the scheme, please let us know if it is for an event or a general donation. Either way it is much needed and gratefully accepted!
There are two fundraisers planned for March this year:
On Wednesday 9th March, your Chairperson is GOING TOPLESS.
Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds, as he is having a full head shave to raise funds.
The barbaric barbering is going to take place around mid-day at Nactown Barbers Nacton Road.
Please SPONSOR ON-LINE through the MyDonate link, or on the HMRC sponsor forms that will magically appear over the next week or two.
On Thursday 10th March, there will be an afternoon event (2.30-5.00) The Easter Tea Party -
Coffee, Tea and a slice of cake with a Tombola to try to win an Easter Egg and a raffle with a very good assortment of prizes.
This event is being organised to raise funds for SHIMS, and many kind people have donated Easter Eggs and offered to bake cakes mmmm, coffee and walnut for me please! (ring ips. 425903 for full details)
We have been lucky enough to have been successful with our application to the Co-op, and will be included in their token scheme. As a result we shall be given a share of £1000 when all the tokens are counted. The more in the SHIMS collection box, the bigger our share of the money!
This is another excellent opportunity to raise awareness of SHIMS in stores used by local people.
if you already shop at the Co-op, please look out for the SHIMS collection boxes and let us know if you see one , at info@shims-msipswich.org.uk. If you don't shop at the Co-op it may be worth a look in, certainly when we know that our name is there.
When we know the end result of this collection, we will post the details on the news page as well as the fundraising page.
Subject to any coin bags weighing wrong, the final countdown .......
£253!!!
(The promised £10 donation turned out to be £20)
A full report to come, but the preliminary total collected including the £10 donation is £242.60
We are off to a flier with a £10 donation promised before we even start the collection,
let us hope that this generosity continues throughout the day.
Awareness of SHIMS and MS is the main objective of the work, but all monies collected will be gratefully accepted!
We have had a few bureaucratic issues in setting up a Just Giving account, so after some discussion with Richard, we have given up!
The alternative that we have found appears to have a more user friendly application - MyDonate-BT.
There are further benefits to this account as it is free to set up and maintain, and there are no 'commission' reductions.
We have started the application process and hope to get the account set up soon.
The results of this collection will be updated on this page as soon as we are able to.
We have applied for funding from The Aviva Community Fund, and also to see if we can get on to the Asda and Co-Op token schemes. Any ideas as to funding sources are welcome!
We have prepared a number of letters to go to Retail outlets and other Businesses in the town centre, asking for support by way of donations for the weekly raffle.
The response will be acknowledged on this page

Jo has raised £32 from the sale of her Dog mugs.
Kim's daughter Sarah, together with some of her friends have raised £30.

The proceeds are being shared equally with the MS Society South Suffolk.
A big thank you to all involved, especially the pupils from Cliff Lane Primary School who assisted with the collection. The children were a credit to the school and their parents.
